Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of the Settle mobile application for iOS and Android (“the App”) and the associated website at settle.cyber-jack.uk (“the Website”), collectively referred to as “Settle”. By installing or using Settle you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t install or use it.
1. Who we are
Settle is published by Chris Jackson, an individual sole developer based in England, United Kingdom, contactable at settle@cyber-jack.uk. In these terms “we”, “us” and “our” refer to Chris Jackson.
2. Licence
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use Settle on any iOS or Android device that you own or control, for your personal, non-commercial use. This licence does not transfer ownership of the App to you.
You may not:
- Copy, modify, reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the App, except where such restriction is prohibited by applicable law
- Rent, lease, sub-licence, sell or redistribute the App
- Use the App in a way that violates any law or infringes anyone’s rights
- Attempt to interfere with or circumvent any security, rate-limiting or integrity feature of the App or its backend services
3. Pro purchase
Settle Pro is a one-off in-app purchase of £2.99 (GBP) that unlocks household hosting, receipt scanning, and full price history. Pro does not expire and is not a subscription.
Purchases are processed by the Apple App Store (on iOS) or Google Play Billing (on Android), under their respective terms. Your entitlement to Pro is tied to the store account that made the purchase. If you reinstall the App on a new device and sign in with the same Apple ID or Google account, Pro will restore automatically. Pro unlocks purchased on one platform do not transfer to the other.
Refunds are handled by whichever store processed the purchase, under that store’s refund policy. Except where required by law, Pro purchases are non-refundable outside the store’s published refund window. If there’s a genuine technical fault preventing you from using Pro, email us and we’ll try to help.
4. Your data and responsibilities
Your shopping data is your responsibility. We provide a backup and restore feature (Settings → Export) and strongly recommend you use it before changing devices. We are not liable for data lost through reinstalling, wiping or losing your device.
If you join or host a household, other members can see and edit the shared list. Only share household codes with people you trust.
See the Privacy Policy for full details of how your data is handled.
5. Third-party services
Settle relies on third parties to provide certain features: Supabase (realtime sync), OpenFoodFacts (barcode lookup), OCR.Space (receipt scanning) and the Apple App Store / Google Play Billing (Pro purchase). These services are subject to their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for outages, errors or changes to these third-party services, though we’ll do our best to keep the App working as the landscape changes.
6. Warranty disclaimer
Settle is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, accurate, or that prices, product data returned from OpenFoodFacts, OCR results from OCR.Space, or sync between household members will always be correct or timely.
Nothing in this section affects your statutory rights as a consumer under UK law.
7. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising out of or in connection with Settle is limited to the greater of £2.99 or the amount you actually paid for Pro in the 12 months before the claim arose.
We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, including lost profits, lost savings, lost data or missed shopping trips, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Nothing in this section excludes or limits our liability for: death or personal injury caused by our negligence; fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.
8. Termination
You may stop using Settle and uninstall it at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access to backend services (household sync) if you materially breach these terms, but we will not revoke Pro entitlement once purchased unless the purchase was fraudulent.
9. Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page will be updated, and material changes will be surfaced in the App. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated terms.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, except that if you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the UK, you may bring proceedings in the courts of your home jurisdiction.
