Common troubleshooting
A recipe URL won’t import
Settle reads structured recipe data (JSON-LD schema.org/Recipe) embedded in the page. Most major recipe sites publish this and import works first time. If a paste fails:
- Try a different URL on the same site - some sites only emit recipe data on the recipe detail page, not the category or homepage.
- Check your internet connection. The first fetch needs to be online; FODMAP flagging itself is offline.
- Some sites (especially social-only ones like TikTok or Pinterest pins) don’t expose recipe structured data. Use the original blog post URL the pin links to.
- If the site is one you’d expect to work, email us the URL and we’ll investigate.
A FODMAP flag looks wrong
Settle’s FODMAP database is the same one used by GutLedger, refined over time from Monash University data. If a flag looks off:
- The flag is on the raw ingredient name, not the prepared dish. Garlic-infused oil might flag as High for garlic even though the actual FODMAP load is Low - that’s a limitation of ingredient-line flagging.
- Portion size matters in real FODMAP advice but Settle does not weigh portions; treat the flag as a heads-up, not a verdict.
- If you’ve found a genuine mis-flag, email us the ingredient text and the expected level and we’ll update the database.
I paid for Pro but it didn’t unlock
Pro is tied to the app-store account that made the purchase (Apple ID on iOS, Google account on Android):
- Open Settle → Settings → Settle Pro → tap Restore purchases.
- Make sure the App Store (iOS) or Play Store (Android) is signed in to the same account used for the purchase.
- If the payment shows as pending, wait up to 24 hours - some card checks take time.
- Still stuck? Email us with your store order number (Play Store orders start “GPA.”; App Store receipts arrive from Apple) and we’ll help unlock it.
Send to ListLedger doesn’t do anything
The one-tap shopping export needs ListLedger installed on the same device. Settle hands the ingredient list over via a deeplink (settle://):
- Install ListLedger from the same store you got Settle from.
- Open Settle, go to Plan, tap Send to ListLedger. ListLedger should pop up showing the ingredient preview.
- If nothing happens, force-close both apps and try again. On Android, also check that ListLedger is set as the default handler for the listledger:// scheme (it normally is).
Household sync isn’t syncing
Household sync is opt-in and uses Settle’s sync backend to share recipes and plans between two phones in the same house. If sync isn’t working:
- Both phones need internet to sync, but plans and recipes are still usable offline once they’ve been pulled.
- Settings → Household - both phones should show the same household name.
- If a phone never joined, re-share the join code and have it rejoin.
- If still stuck, email us with the approximate time of the last successful sync.
I want to delete everything
To completely remove your Settle data:
- On device: Settings → Clear all data wipes the local recipe library, plans, and settings. Uninstalling also removes everything.
- From a household: Settings → Household → Leave household. If you hosted the household, tap Delete household instead - this removes the shared data from the sync server too.
- Full server wipe: if you want us to remove any remaining data on the backend, email us from the account associated with your Pro purchase and we’ll handle it.
Feature requests & feedback
Settle is built by one person, and every feature request is read. If you’ve got an idea that would make planning meals around your gut easier, I want to hear it.

Leaving a store review helps a lot. If Settle is useful to you, a quick rating on Google Play (and the App Store when it lands) makes it easier for other people to find.
