Frequently Asked Questions

What is FODMAP and why does it matter?

FODMAPs are short-chain carbohydrates that a lot of people with IBS or sensitive guts struggle to digest. A low-FODMAP diet, originally developed at Monash University, is one of the most evidence-backed ways to identify trigger foods. The hard part is knowing which ingredient in a normal recipe is the culprit. Settle does that automatically for any recipe you paste in.

Is the FODMAP flagging free?

Yes. Automatic Low / Medium / High FODMAP flagging on every ingredient is unlimited and free. That is the wedge of the app. Pro unlocks unlimited recipe imports per week and unlimited weekly plans, but the flagging itself is always free.

How does the recipe import work?

Paste any recipe URL from BBC Good Food, NYT Cooking, low-FODMAP blogs, or wherever you find recipes. Settle reads the page’s structured data (JSON-LD schema.org/Recipe), extracts the ingredients and instructions, and flags every ingredient against the FODMAP database. Hit-rate is high on real recipe sites; sites without proper schema can fail, in which case Settle tells you instead of guessing.

What does the Pro unlock cost?

£2.99, one-off, no subscription. Pro removes the 3-imports-per-week cap on the free tier and lets you save more than one weekly plan at a time. The FODMAP flags themselves stay free for everyone.

Do I need a Settle account?

No. There are no accounts. Your recipes and plans live on your device. There is an optional household-sync feature if two people in the same house want to share a plan, but using it is opt-in. The default is fully local, no sign-up.

How does the ListLedger integration work?

If you also have ListLedger installed (the household shopping list app), Settle can take your weekly meal plan, aggregate the ingredients with dedupe, and send the whole list to ListLedger in one tap. You pick which list it lands in. No retyping, no copy-paste. ListLedger is a separate £2.99 app from the same studio.

What phones does it work on?

Android first, coming soon to Google Play. iOS (App Store) is on the way too. Both share the same recipe database and plan format.

Can I get a refund for Pro?

Pro purchases are handled by your app store - Apple on iOS, Google Play on Android. Request a refund through whichever store you bought it from, within their published refund window. If there is a genuine technical problem, email [email protected] and we will help.
